The Garvan Institute of Medical Research is one of Australia's leading biomedical research centres, achieving major breakthroughs in the understanding and treatment of such diseases as osteoporosis, cancer, diabetes, mental illness, pituitary disease, arthritis and asthma. Garvan is affiliated with St. Vincent's Hospital and The University of New South Wales.

Students comprise nearly a quarter of our researchers, roughly 70-80 at any one time. While the majority are PhD students, we also welcome Honours and MSc students.
